I studied while rebuilding my consulting company, we moved to San Diego. Finally, I heard about something called 1031 exchange. Most people described it as complicated, challenging, hard to do, etc. Our house close to Santa Barbara had increase considerably in value, our house in Santa Fe was coming up on a new lease term and I decided we should try the exchange.

My grandmother, who grew up during the Depression, had a huge influence on me. She was constantly saving everything! Half used paper towels, pieces of ripped cloth, and paper…can we talk about the paper! She was a living example of the slogan, “A penny saved is a penny earned.” I followed in her footsteps for years until I attended college at the University of Florida. It became clear through several small business ventures that in order to make money as an entrepreneur, it typically required money up front to get started. This is where the epiphany started! I began realizing, the more I could save, the more I could invest. And the more I could invest, the more money would work for me; giving me time to pursue other interests.

Scott oversees all operations of the Urban Pacific family of companies, including business development, capital acquisition, and strategic planning.

Prior to forming Urban Pacific, Scott was Director of Land Acquisition for the Multi-Family Development Division of Irvine-based Sares-Regis Group. In that position, he was responsible for all land acquisition activities for the development of luxury, market rate and senior rental communities throughout California, Colorado, and Arizona.

Before joining Sares-Regis, Scott was with Kaufman and Broad Multi-Housing Group. As Senior Project Manager, he was responsible for all activities related to multifamily development, including the acquisition, entitlement, syndication and development of over 1,900 affordable multifamily units throughout the Western United States.
